Cuckoo clock idea

This is my first idea for a cuckoo clock. I want to totally change the original concept of a cuckoo clock. In the first two pictures you see the clock when there's no time displayed. The idea is that the branches move towards each other and create a symbol that will make clear what time it is. I first thought I would display the time as a mixture of the number (like one o' clock would be a 1) with a cuckoo, but that didn't turn out great. So I decided to just do the cuckoo at the place where the one o' clock would normally be on the clock. 

Also, the branches are black during the day, but turn white (light) in the night, so you can read the clock both during the day and the night.
